Celtic & Pictish Crosses & carved stones
Historic Architecture models
This is a contemporary sculpture combining Celtic/Pictish rock-art with metalwork. It is based on a stone carved Celtic Cross slab that is on display at Old Govan Parish Church, Glasgow. This Celtic Cross was carved around the 10th century but over the centuries, the lower half has been broken off and lost. I have created my miniature with a couple of changes to how the original looked. Principally, I have taken the cross element of the sculpture and re-presented it as a copper metal inlay to represent a "metal & Stone" sculpture.
This metal inlay is hand-polished cold cast copper.
This piece comes ready with a hanging hole on the rear to enable it to be hung flush to the wall from a pin-nail.
C29 Govan Celtic Cross
